One of our valued clients recently experienced the true essence of yacht ownership, not only taking delivery of their dream yacht but personally sailing it from the shipyard to its new home in Greece.
The moment they stepped on board and took the helm marked the beginning of an unforgettable journey. Filled with excitement and pride, they enjoyed a unique delivery experience at sea, turning a simple handover into the start of countless future voyages. A story that reflects what yacht ownership is really about freedom, emotion, and the joy of the open water.
More than a delivery. The beginning of a journey.
"We have enjoyed sailing with family and friends for many years in different countries with different charter companies. When the thought of an own boat became in reach, we made the choice of Istion as charter business. Istion consulted us to set up the legal framework for chartering, choosing and installing the necessary accessories which were later installed in Greece and handled the paperwork for the delivery journey. It was a dream come true when we set sails in Les Sables d’Olonne.
The journey was a once in a lifetime experience sailing in the Biscay which is rough and windy in April, passing Gibraltar where the current dangers of Orcas are in every sailor’s mind - luckily, we were not attacked. We had wonderful days in Mallorca, Sardinia and Sicily where we enjoyed the Mediterranean flair and finally sailed through the canal of Corinth by night which was incredible for all senses. The smell of herbs, a warm breeze and a clear sky full of stars made us realize that Athens was coming closer and our journey was sadly coming to an end.
After 4 weeks and 2500nm, we were warmly welcomed in Greece, and it was not easy handing over the boat we made so many memories with. I was impressed by their professional and friendly way of managing many pitfalls during our journey which gives me a good feeling leaving the boat in their hands, knowing everything is taken care of.
We are excited to get back to our boat during the next summers and creating more memories in Greece."
